3D Printed Garments

kinematics dress generation - variable density tessellation

After last weeks discussion regarding material choice of wearables, I wanted to expand on that topic just a little more.  Many designers are 3D printing beautiful garments that are specific to the runway;  these garments tend to be inflexible and uncomfortable especially for movement.

Nervous System explores more with Kinematics to create complex and collapsible forms out of basic geometrical shapes.  The results of this include creating structures that more easily forms and moves with the human body and movement.  The initially began experimenting with this technology to produce jewelry, but in 2013 attempted to make a dress.

The garment is also printed as a collapsed object to save space.
